READY FOR ACTION -- An engineer at Hughes Space and Communications Company conducts vibration testing on TDRS-H, a Hughes 601 built for NASA. The launch of TDRS-H, scheduled for June 29, 2000, from Cape Canaveral, is the first of three Hughes-built next generation satellites which will augment the current Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) fleet. TDRS-H, which is equipped with innovative "spring back" design antennas, will supply continuous, high-data-rate communications with the Space Shuttle, with the International Space Station, and with dozens of unmanned spacecraft in low Earth orbit.
