| SUPPORT FOR THE WARFIGHTER - Boeing Satellite Systems is leading an industry team to manufacture the Wideband Gapfiller Satellite System, a high-capacity system that will service all branches of the military. Awarded to Boeing in January 2001, initial funding for the potential $1.3 billion contract covers non-recurring engineering and advanced long-lead material for three spacecraft and associated control-segment equipment. If all options are exercised, Boeing will build a total of six Boeing 702 satellites. A joint-service program funded by the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, WGS is designed to support the warfighter with newer and far greater capabilities than those provided by current systems. Launch of the first satellite is scheduled in early 2004.
