Ground-based Midcourse Defense
November, 2005 -- The Sea-Based X-Band Radar and platform depart Corpus Christi, TX, powered by the Motor Vessel Blue Marlin semi-submersible, heavy-transport vessel. The SBX will transit the Pacific Ocean headed for its homeport in Adak, Alaska. A component of the Missile Defense Agency's Ground-Based Midcourse Defense program, the SBX will provide tracking, discrimination and hit assessment functions.
