Ground-based Midcourse Defense
Soldiers from the 100th Missile Defense Brigade operate consoles for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system at the Missile Defense Element, Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. The Brigade soldiers took part in a successful test of the GMD system Sept. 1, 2006, during which a GMD interceptor launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California intercepted a long-range target launched from Kodiak, Alaska.
