Sea Launch

Overview

Boeing is a 40% partner of Sea Launch, through the Boeing Commercial Space Company. Boeing manufactures the payload fairing, is responsible for analytical and physical spacecraft integration, and manages overall mission operations, including the Home Port. Sea Launch combines proven launch systems with marine-based operations to provide heavy-lift launch services for commercial customers around the globe. Home Port is located in Long Beach, Calif. Launch site is in the Pacific Ocean at the equator, 154 degrees West Longitude.

In addition to Boeing, the international partnership includes: RSC Energia (Russia), Block DM upper stage, launch vehicle integration and mission operations; SDO Yuzhnoye/PO Yuzhmash (Ukraine), first two Zenit-3SL stages, launch vehicle integration support and mission operations; and Kvaerner ASA (Norway), design and construction of the Odyssey Launch Platform and the Sea Launch Commander.

Sea Launch, the world's only ocean-based launch services company, provides commercial satellite customers the most direct and cost-effective route to geosynchronous transfer orbit. From its equatorial launch site, the robust Sea Launch Zenit-3SL rocket can lift a heavier spacecraft mass or place a payload into a higher perigee, helping satellite operators to attain a longer satellite service capability.
