Team Award
Many significant contributions are made to human spaceflight individually. However, it is through the collective efforts of the many smaller teams within the entire NASA-industry team that the space program has succeeded and will continue to meet the challenges of the future.
The award consists of:
- Framed Team Award certificate with a commemorative flown flag
- Team Award pin
Award Presentation Process
The certificate may be signed by a company president or vice president, a director of an organization, or an astronaut and should be presented by the person who signed the award, if possible. Awards should be presented during a prearranged ceremony before the team's coworkers. Senior management should be invited. Each team member is also presented a special SFA Team Award lapel pin during the ceremony.
Criteria
To be eligible for this award, the team must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
- Contributed significantly beyond fundamental task accountabilities in support of the NASA programs.
- Contributed, recommended, and/or implemented a means of improving the reliability, efficiency, accuracy, or safety of a particular human spaceflight program.
- Sustained superior performance as part of a team effort over an extended period of time.
- Recommended and/or implemented operational improvements to increase efficiency.
Eligibility and Nomination
A group of individuals who distinguish themselves in their work are eligible candidates to receive the Team Award. The Space Flight Awareness Team Award is given to a group of employees who have demonstrated exemplary teamwork while accomplishing a particular task or goal in support of the human space program.
The person submitting the nomination must ensure that all individuals included actively participated in the team effort.
