Boeing Training Systems & Services has been working with Aechelon Technology for two years on the continued development and demonstration of Boeing's revolutionary Constant Resolution Visual System (CRVS). CRVS, Boeing's newest visual display, delivers an immersive environment by providing a high-resolution "out-the-window" view for training systems and for general visualization applications.
Boeing is building CRVS to be vendor independent but has been working closely with leading Image Generator suppliers to eliminate risk to early adopters of CRVS technology. Boeing is currently working with Aechelon Technology to further advance their state-of-the-art visual system displays, as well as Image Generator (IG) and Database (DB) technology during Boeing's CRVS prototyping and demonstration phase.
"CRVS is the only visual system in the world able to provide true constant resolution throughout the entire field of view. Coupled with its high resolution, CRVS is the first visual system to provide unvarying real-world target acuity in a dynamic flight environment, greatly improving the fidelity of training," said Mark McGraw, Boeing vice president for Training Systems & Services. "It makes virtual training missions and other simulations more detailed and effective."
Boeing has been developing the CRVS as a company-funded project for several years. Its applications include fast-jet, rotorcraft and ground-based training, as well as visualizations for presentations, virtual prototyping and analysis. CRVS is now production ready for a very broad market base.
