Boeing test pilots and engineers expect the unexpected, in fact their job is to look for it, to ensure Boeing products perform as they’re intended. Should the unexpected happen while they’re thousands of feet in the air, safety is paramount. Boeing military aircraft flight testers go through substantive training, certified by the U.S. Air Force and Navy and delivered by Boeing’s Life Support organization. The group, led by former members of the military, teaches test crews how to respond if an incident is severe enough to require an ejection or water landing. They also maintain all of the emergency equipment necessary to keep crews safe. Watch this video to see the intense training in action.
