JP5195 Phase 2 Project

JP5195 Phase 2 was a Commonwealth project for which Boeing Australia was the prime contractor for the design, development, integration, supply, installation and testing of a high dynamic precision positioning service Global Positioning System (GPS) in twelve C130H aircraft. The GPS was also integrated with the aircraft's existing Inertial Navigation System (INS). The project commenced in June 1996 and was concluded in mid 2002.

The customer was located within the Navigation Warfare Systems Program Office, Electronic Warfare Branch and key stakeholders included the Air Lift Logistics Management Squadron, 36 Squadron and ARDU.

Australian Involvement

Boeing Australia provided overall project management and was the Authorised Engineering Organisation with delegated authority from the RAAF to approve the system integration design. Rockwell Collins provided the FMS-800 Flight Management System components and software and Qantas Airways Limited was responsible for the design and production of the modification kits and aircraft modification/installation.
