Our vision for Boeing Australia is to become the leading world-class Aerospace Support organisation in the Asia-Pacific region. We are pursuing this vision through the establishment of the Boeing Aerospace Support Centre (BASC) at Amberley, as one node in a world-wide network of BASCs, joining the established centres in the USA, UK and Saudi Arabia. The BASC-Amberley is modelled on the highly successful centres that Boeing has established at former US Military bases, such as Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The cornerstone of the business plan for the BASC-Amberley is the F-111 Weapon System Business Unit (WSBU) contract and the F-111 Block Upgrade Program. Complementing the F-111 focus is B707 Deeper Maintenance and the establishment of the infrastructure and resources required to modify Boeing 737 Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft.

The commitment to this business includes substantial investment in a large hanger complex, associated tooling & support equipment and the expansion of our existing highly skilled technical workforce of engineers, logisticians and tradespeople.

The WSBU contract also permits Boeing to use excess capacity to support other military and commercial platforms, thus providing savings to the Commonwealth. Additional benefits will then flow to the RAAF from programs that Boeing is pursuing, such as support of the Boeing Chinook helicopters.
