Naval Communication Station (NCS), Harold E Holt (HEH)

The NES Systems Support and Operations division (SSOD) has total systems performance responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Naval Communication Station at Exmouth, Western Australia. In addition to the operation and maintenance of the Royal Australian Navy’s Very Low Frequency (VLF) and High Frequency (HF) communications systems, the SSOD team provide comprehensive infrastructure support services.

VLF Antenna site at Exmouth

Naval Communication Station (NCS), Darwin (Northern Territory)

Boeing Australia is the prime contractor for the operation and maintenance of the Transmit and Receive sites associated with the Naval Communications Station located in Darwin. The Transmit site located at Humpty Doo, 65 kms south of Darwin, operates approximately 30 high powered, High Frequency (HF) radio transmitters and over 40 HF aerials. The receive site is located at Shoal Bay, approximately 25 kms north-east of Darwin. Together these two sites provide the HF communications capability for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) from northern Australia.

Maritime HF Communication Facility, Belconnen, (Australian Capital Territory)

Boeing Australia is the prime contractor for the operation and maintenance of the Maritime HF communication facility in Belconnen.

The Belconnen transmit site is set on 137 hectares and operates 37 high-powered HF radio transmitters and 46 HF aerials. The receive site is situated at Bonshaw, approximately 18 kilometres SE of the transmitting station. The Belconnen facility is the current primary HF communications station for the Royal Australian Navy.

The Boeing Australia team also maintains the facilities and grounds services at this site.

ADSCS Geraldton

Operations and Maintenance Contract (P243) for Satellite Communication Facilities

Boeing Australia Limited provides operations, maintenance and support services to the Department of Defence at three sites located in Canberra; at Shoal Bay Receiving Station in Darwin NT and at the Australian Defence Satellite Communications Station in Geraldton WA. In a long-term relationship, Boeing Australia Limited staff work in concert with Commonwealth employees to operate these important Defence sites.

Defence Communications Network, Deakin (Australian Capital Territory)

Boeing Australia is contracted to provide engineering design services to the Defence Communications Network, located at the Defence Centre in Deakin, Canberra. The Deakin site is responsible for the design and management of the Defence voice, fax and data communications requirements across the Defence Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN). Approximately 30 Boeing Australia staff are employed at the site and are responsible for the planning, design, configuration management and installation for these Defence Networks, which cover over 400 Defence sites located throughout Australia and overseas.

The Maritime Communications Group (MCG) provides integrated communications systems solutions for mobile platforms and meets the challenging requirements of military and commercial users in land, sea and air.
