Boeing Australia is contracted to the Commonwealth of Australia to deliver the Vigilare ground based air defence system.
The Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) Vigilare project will provide two new ground-based air defence, command, control and communication systems at RAAF Base Tindal (Northern Territory) and at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW.
The project will draw on The Boeing Company's 20 years experience in both airborne and ground air defence systems development. Using the proven Boeing open system approach to mission system design, Vigilare will be initially developed in Seattle and then integrated in Australia.
The 2001 Australian Defence White Paper identified surveillance and reconnaissance as priority needs.
