The 767-200ER aircraft is shown undergoing modifications at the Boeing Wichita Development and Modification Center. It will be converted into a 767 Tanker Transport before being delivered to the Italian Air Force in 2006. During the extensive modification program, the aircraft will receive an advanced Remote Aerial Refueling Operator Station, an aerial refueling boom, wing pods and centerline hose-and-drogue refueling systems, a refueling receptacle, freighter/passenger interior and a cargo door. Additional military, navigation and communications equipment also will be installed.
