Brown Named Director of Flight Operations for Airlift and Tanker Programs at Boeing

LONG BEACH, Calif., Nov. 05, 1997 -- Don Brown has been named director of Flight Operations for airlift and tanker programs at The Boeing Company in Long Beach, Calif. Boeing builds the C-17 Globemaster III cargo airplane in Long Beach for the U.S. Air Force.

Brown spent nine years with McDonnell Douglas as a test pilot on the MD-80 and MD-11 airliners and the C-17. Boeing and McDonnell Douglas merged in August of this year.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Brown has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in systems management from the University of Southern California. He spent 20 years as a U.S. Navy aviator, including command of an F/A-18 squadron and air group. He amassed 6,000 flight hours, with 12 years as a Navy test pilot, including the F/A-18 Hornet.
