Boeing and Mumbai-based Jet Airways announce an order for 10 787-8 Dreamliners valued at more than $1.5 billion at list prices. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2011. Jet Airways, with an average fleet age of 5.3 years, has one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world.

Boeing secures a key role in HIFiRE (Hypersonic International Flight Research Experimentation), a $54 million hypersonics research program jointly established by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and Australia's Defence Science and Technology Organisation.

Boeing successfully completes a live demonstration of the Global Positioning System ground station, which will control the 32 GPS satellites now in orbit as well as those that will join the fleet in the coming months. The ground station is activated in September 2007.

The 747-400 Dreamlifter delivers the first 787 Dreamliner major assemblies to Global Aeronautica in Charleston, S.C. The load consists of section 43, a forward fuselage section made by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and section 11/45, the center wheel well and center wing tank made by KHI and Fuji Heavy Industries and joined at FHI.

Phantom Works says it has demonstrated for the first time how advanced networking technology can be used in a near-space vehicle to provide real-time information to ground forces. The Boeing/U.S. Air Force demonstration used a high-altitude balloon to simulate a near-space vehicle. Tests in 2008 will involve multiple airborne and near-space assets to provide support for a large number of ground units.

The Boeing Global Corporate Citizenship function announces it has published a Corporate Philanthropy Report, representing the first time the company has had a single comprehensive publication to illustrate Boeing's global footprint in strategic corporate philanthropy and community partnerships.

Boeing and GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) announce a 39-airplane order valued at approximately $5.34 billion at list prices. GECAS' order consists of 15 777s, including seven 777-300ERs (Extended Range) and eight 777 Freighters, and 24 Next-Generation 737-800s. GECAS has long been an important Boeing customer, ordering 372 Boeing airplanes since its first order in 1995.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin form a strategic alliance to promote advancement of the U.S. Next-Generation Air Transportation System, designed to address the anticipated threefold increase in air traffic by 2020. The alliance combines Boeing's strengths in aircraft systems, avionics, aviation operations, and airspace simulation and modeling with Lockheed Martin's Air Traffic Management experience in the domains of en-route, oceanic, terminal, and airport surface operations.

The U.S. Air Force awards Boeing a contract for a Ground Situational Awareness Toolkit that integrates a ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system with a ShotSpotter gunfire detection and location technology system. The integrated solution is designed to provide additional force protection for military convoys and bases against sniper fire.

Silverjet, a British startup airline with low-fare, all-business-class service, makes its inaugural flight on a 767-200ER aircraft leased from Boeing Capital Corp. Flying from the United Kingdom to the United States, Silverjet launches its twice-daily service from its home base in Luton, north of London, to Newark, N.J. The Boeing 767 will be the base model for Silverjet's entire fleet.

Boeing launches a new U.S. television advertising campaign, themed "That's why we're here," featuring Boeing employees who represent more than 150,000 of their fellow employees worldwide. The four TV ads showcase the talent, commitment, pride and diversity of Boeing people and the amazing things they do working together with customers and partners worldwide. The first TV commercial in the series of four launches on NBC's "Meet the Press."

A Boeing delegation led by the Global Corporate Citizenship function travels to Indonesia to visit locations still recovering from the December 2004 tsunami. This is Boeing's first site investigation of a former disaster area, and comes at the invitation of CARE and Mercy Corps, two of the three nonprofit agencies that received corporate and employee support totaling more than $4.5 million in the months following the tsunami. Employee Bob Seipel was chosen to participate in the site visit.

Boeing, EADS, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce sign a memorandum of understanding with Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to participate in a collaborative aerospace research program. The program will leverage A*STAR's capabilities to conduct "pre-competitive" applied research in areas such as advanced materials, manufacturing processes, information/communication, nondestructive testing and computational modeling.

Boeing and Science Applications International Corp., functioning as the Lead Systems Integrator for the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems program, successfully complete an eight-month experiment that is a cornerstone of soldier evaluation activities and an important step toward the early infusion of key FCS capabilities to the current force.

Boeing says it has signed an agreement with the Canadian government for the purchase of four C-17 Globemaster IIIs for Canada's Department of National Defence. The contract for the direct commercial sale of four airframes will provide new strategic airlift mobility capabilities for the Canadian Forces.

Boeing and UPS confirm an order for 27 767-300 Freighters which, when all are delivered, will nearly double the UPS 767 Freighter fleet. The new airplanes are slated for delivery between 2009 and 2012.

The second 747-400 Dreamlifter completes its first flight in Taipei, Taiwan. This airplane is the second of a fleet of three Dreamlifters that will transport the major composite structures of the 787 Dreamliner.

The first Next-Generation 737-700ER flies from Boeing's Seattle Delivery Center to Japan and into service with ANA (All Nippon Airways). ANA launched the 737-700ER program in January 2006. The 737-700ER is inspired by the Boeing Business Jet and is designed for long-range commercial applications. The high-performance derivative can fly up to 2,145 nautical miles farther than the 737-700.

Boeing successfully completes a Critical Design Review of its Family of Advanced Beyond line-of-sight Terminals program, helping to pave the way for deliveries to begin. The FAB-T system includes software-defined radios, antennas and associated user interface hardware that will enable the government to host numerous waveforms that accommodate data rates in excess of 300 megabits per second. Once operational, FAB-T will provide critical, secure beyond line-of-sight communications capability for warfighters via various satellites that support military forces. Initial deliveries will begin in December 2008.

The Australian Department of Defence orders 24 F/A-18F aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force. The acquisition includes in-service support and upfront training for aircrew and maintenance personnel.

A Boeing-led industry team successfully launches Orbital Express, a demonstration spacecraft that is part of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency program aimed at demonstrating fully autonomous on-orbit spacecraft servicing. "This demonstration mission is the first step toward developing an operational system that can service satellites and support other space operations," says George Muellner, president of Boeing Advanced Systems.

Boeing and Continental announce an order for five 787-9 Dreamliners. This order, combined with the airline's earlier order, brings its total 787 orders to 25 airplanes. The Houston-based airline is the first customer in the Americas to order the 787 Dreamliner, as well as the first in the Americas to order the 787-9.

Boeing rolls out the first 787 vertical fin, meeting a key program milestone as the airplane begins final assembly in Everett, Wash. The vertical fin, the largest primary structure of the 787 airframe built by an internal Boeing supplier, was manufactured and assembled at the Composite Manufacturing Center in Frederickson, Wash.

Boeing delivers the 200th T-45C Goshawk to the U.S. Navy. The T-45 Training System is the only system available that trains specifically to perform carrier landings. More than 3,000 Navy and Marine Corps fighter pilots have received instruction on the T-45.

Boeing is awarded the second phase of a $27 million U.S. Air Force contract for the Small Diameter Bomb I Focused Lethality Munition Joint Capability Technology Demonstration program. The FLM JCTD will develop an advanced warhead for the SDB that offers low collateral damage and maintains the pinpoint accuracy of the SDB system. During the $17.7 million second phase, Boeing will integrate the FLM warhead into the SDB I weapon, perform a series of ground and flight tests, and manufacture a limited number of FLM weapons.

Boeing researchers and industry partners in Europe begin performing ground tests of an experimental fuel-cell-powered airplane in preparation for flight testing in late 2007 or early 2008. The small manned airplane is powered only by a fuel cell and lightweight batteries in an effort to develop environmentally progressive technologies for aerospace applications. The research is led by Boeing Research and Technology Europe, in Madrid, Spain.

Boeing, which performs development, production and sustainment work on the B-1 bomber, says it has helped the U.S. Air Force B-1 fleet surpass 500,000 flight hours. The aircraft reached the milestone during a March 1 flight. The $2.8 billion Conventional Mission Upgrade Program awarded to Boeing adds computers, weapons, and communication and navigation equipment to maintain the B-1's relevance for another 40 years.
