747 Stamp
The new 747 postage stamp was unveiled to the world on Nov. 15, 1999, as part of the U.S. Postal Service's "Celebrate The Century" program. The 747 is being honored as one of the most significant technological achievements of the 20th century. The only other aviation events receiving "Celebrate The Century" stamps are the Wright brothers first flight and Charles Lindbergh's crossing of the Atlantic. A 70-foot square version of the 747 stamp has been permanently added to the doors of the Everett, Wash., factory where the airplane is assembled -- the world's largest building, the world's largest commercial airplane, and now the world's largest stamp.
