747-400 Freighter

The 747-400 Freighter, the all-cargo version of the popular 747-400, made its first flight from Paine Field in Everett, Wash., on May 4, 1993. The 747-400 Freighter has the lowest operating cost per ton-mile in the industry. It can carry up to 270,000 pounds of cargo, and can haul twice as much cargo twice as far as its nearest competitor. In 1999, Boeing will deliver 10 747-400 Freighters, the most ever in a single year. As many as 16 more 747-400 Freighters may be delivered in 2000, testimony to the airplane's tremendous popularity and value.
