LOT Polish Airlines' 737 Order Caps Eventful First-Half 1995 SEATTLE, July 11, 1995 -- LOT Polish Airlines will add another Boeing 737 to its fleet. The airline's Supervisory Board approved the $49-million purchase on June 30, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed today. The LOT announcement brings Boeing announced orders for commercial jetliners to 150 for the first six months of 1995, compared with 120 for all of 1994. "The gradual strengthening of the air travel market, combined with our strategy of delivering more value to our customers have given us good momentum through the first half of the year," said Ron Woodard, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group president. LOT's new 737-400 will be the airline's eleventh 737 when it is delivered in 1996. LOT also operates four Boeing 767- 300ER long-range twinjets, making the airline the largest operator of Boeing aircraft in Central Europe. Powered by CFM56-3C-1 engines, the 737-400 announced today will seat 156 passengers in a dual class business and tourist layout. Also in the first six months of 1995, Boeing has launched two new airplane models. Scandinavian Airline System launched the 737-600, an advanced derivative of the best- selling 737 family, and at the Paris Air Show Boeing announced the launch of the 777-300, a stretched member of the new 777 family. Boeing delivered the first 777-200 to United Airlines in May. |
