Boeing Announces 1996 Employment Forecast

SEATTLE, April 23, 1996 - The Boeing Company announced today it expects to increase its employment by approximately 8,200 employees during 1996, bringing total employment to about 113,350 by year end. Employment on January 1, 1996 was 105,185.

Boeing said the additional jobs are directly attributable to previously announced increases in commercial aircraft production rates.

The bulk of the increase will be in Washington state where the company expects to add approximately 6,700 employees. Approximately 1,900 employees will be added in Wichita, Kansas; and approximately 400 will be added in other Boeing locations.

Boeing expects a decrease of approximately 700 at its Helicopters Division in Philadelphia and approximately 100 at its Missiles & Space Division in Huntsville, Alabama.
