SEATTLE, Jan. 23, 1998 -- In its new livery, Aeroflot Russian International Airlines' first 777-200ER took off today from Boeing Field en route to Moscow. The airplane is the first of two Aeroflot 777-200ERs to be leased from International Lease Finance Corporation. The carrier's second 777-200ER is scheduled for delivery at the end of the year.
Equipped with General Electric GE90 engines, three-class seating and the ability to transport up to 291 passengers, Aeroflot's new 777-200ER will provide expanded service from Moscow to New York and London. On its delivery flight, the carrier's newest jetliner carried medical supplies for hospitals in Moscow.
Aeroflot is the only carrier in Russia with a 777-200ER. The airline has been flying Boeing airplanes since 1994, when it leased its first 767-300ER. Aeroflot currently flies to 153 destinations in 84 countries and provides 70 percent of all international air transport performed by Russian airlines.
Including Aeroflot's 777-200ER, 18 customers worldwide have taken delivery of 136 777-200s.
