Bonum-1 Launch Aboard a Delta II is Scrubbed

Cape Canaveral Air Station, FLA., Nov. 19, 1998 -- Today's launch of a Boeing Delta II was scrubbed due to concerns with the steering system of the main engine.

During final booster checks movement of the main engine nozzle appeared restricted. The ability to move the engine nozzle assists in steering in the launch vehicle during flight. The Delta team is evaluating the issue and is working toward a 24-hour turn-around launch. Tomorrow's launch has two windows. The first opens at 6:22 p.m. and closes at 7:04 p.m. EST. A second nine-minute window opens at 9:14 p.m. EST.

BONUM-1, a Hughes HS 376 high-powered satellite, will be operated by BONUM-1, a subsidiary of Media Most, a private Russian media group.

Television satellite coordinates for the launch live broadcast are Galaxy 9, Transponder 6 on C-band. Updated information will be posted on the Boeing launch hotline at (714) 896-4770.

Video streaming can be viewed via the Internet by accessing http://www.boeing.com.
