Final Assembly Of Boeing 757-300
RENTON, Wash., March 19, 1998 -- The rear fuselage section of the first Boeing 757-300 is lifted into place on the assembly line at the Boeing factory in Renton, Wash. Joining the front and rear fuselage sections to the wing section produces an airplane that is 178 feet 7 inches (54.4 meters) long and 124 feet 10 inches (38 meters) from wingtip to wingtip. The Boeing 757-300, a derivative of the 757-200, is the largest single-aisle twinjet ever produced and has the lowest seat-mile operating costs of any single-aisle airplane on the market. The first 757-300 is scheduled to roll out of the factory in May. It will be delivered to launch customer Condor Flugdienst, a German charter airline, in January 1999.
