Boeing Rolls Out First MD-10 Freighter For FedEx

Return to News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif., March 19, 1999 -- The Boeing Company rolled out the first MD-10 freighter for FedEx during ceremonies held last week at the Long Beach facility. FedEx, launch customer for the MD-10 conversion program, currently operates a fleet of 26 MD-11s and is scheduled to receive three more MD-11s in the next year. "MD-10" is the designation given to modified DC-10s that incorporate the Boeing Advanced Common Flightdeck (ACF). A new Boeing MD-11 freighter, soon to be delivered to FedEx, helped complete the backdrop for the event.
