American Trans Air Acquires Boeing 757-300s And 737-800s

SEATTLE, Wash., May 04, 2000 -- American Trans Air (ATA) is the North American launch customer for both the Boeing 757-300, shown below, and the Boeing 737-800 with winglets, shown above. ATA this month announced an intention to order both models. The 757-300, which entered service in 1999, has established a new aviation record for first-year reliability. The Next-Generation 737-800, which entered service in 1998, is part of a new family of 737s that are the most advanced jetliners in their class.
