American Takes Delivery Of Boeing 737-800 Astrojet
SEATTLE, Dec. 13, 2000 -- American Airlines yesterday took delivery of its 50th Boeing Next Generation 737-800, sporting the same vintage Astrojet livery that American's first 727s had in 1964. In addition to its distinctive retro livery, the airplane has expanded legroom in coach, a feature that is now standard on all American single-aisle airplanes. The airline will use this latest member of its fleet on domestic routes. As part of its multi-year fleet renewal efforts, American is using its increasing number of Next Generation 737-800s to retire Boeing 727s.
