Return to News Release

NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md, July 02, 2001 -- The Boeing X-32B Joint Strike Fighter concept-demonstrator aircraft July 1 completed all of its government-defined requirements by conducting the program's first short takeoffs at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in southern Maryland. The aircraft, which has validated the Boeing approach to short-takeoff-and-vertical-landing requirements, will continue flight testing well into this month. It will perform additional takeoffs at shorter runway distances as well as a number of Boeing strategic objectives.
