SEATTLE, May 22, 2001 -- Pegasus Airlines, one of the leading private carriers in Turkey, has taken delivery of its second Boeing 737-800 in a month. This airplane is leased through International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
With the addition of this new airplane, the Pegasus fleet numbers 19 with a seating capacity of 3,439. Pegasus operates 11 Boeing 737-800s as well as eight earlier 737 models. This past year, the airline operated charter flights to 10 destinations in Turkey and 86 in Europe.
"The 737 has exceeded our expectations for reliability, economy, and comfort," said Larry Lowth general manager, Pegasus Airlines. "The 737 has helped us build a reputation as one of the most popular airlines in the region, and we expect to carry our 2,700,000th passenger by the end of the year."
The Next-Generation 737 (737-600/ -700/ -800/ -900) is the most technologically advanced airplane in the single-aisle market. Flight deck liquid crystal displays and spacious new interiors are patterned after the market-leading Boeing 777.

ILFC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American International Group, is the international market leader in the leasing and remarketing of advanced technology commercial jets to airlines around the world. ILFC owns a portfolio valued at more than $20 billion, consisting of more than 500 jet airplanes, 60 percent of which are Boeing-built. ILFC now has ordered a total of 646 new airplanes from Boeing since 1977.
