ST. LOUIS, Dec. 06, 2001 -- Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems today announced two vice president and general manager appointments.

John Lockard, 57, who had been vice president and general manager of Engineering for the company, has been named vice president and general manager of Business Development. He succeeds George Roman, who has taken a senior leadership position with TRW. Lockard's appointment is effective Dec. 10.

Bob Krieger, 57, is succeeding Lockard as vice president and general manager of Engineering. Krieger most recently was vice president of Engineering for Boeing Phantom Works, with responsibility for developing new technologies and processes for Boeing products and services. Krieger will transition to his new role over the next month. A Phantom Works announcement on Krieger's successor is expected soon.

Both Lockard and Krieger will serve on the Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems leadership team and report to Jerry Daniels, the unit's president and chief executive officer.

"I am pleased to be able to call on two very talented and experienced leaders for these key roles," Daniels said. "Their insight and in-depth knowledge of our customers will be of great value as we move forward."

Lockard joined Boeing 15 months ago after a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, where he retired as a vice admiral. Among many important assignments during his 36-year naval career, Lockard served as program manager for the F/A-18 Hornet and as commander of Naval Air Systems Command.

Krieger has worked for Boeing for 33 years in various leadership positions on a number of advanced weapons systems and aircraft development programs. Prior to his current position, he was general manager of the AV-8B Harrier and U.S. Navy Missile programs.
