Air Europa Flies its First Boeing 737-800 with Winglets

Return to News Release

SEATTLE, Jan. 03, 2002 -- Spanish airline Air Europa flies its first Boeing 737-800 with winglets, the upward-swept extensions on the tip of the wings. Winglets reduce fuel burn, increase the distance the airplane can fly, improve takeoff performance, reduce takeoff noise, and lower engine maintenance costs.
