Boeing Delivers 100th 717-200 Twinjet at Ceremony

LONG BEACH, June 18, 2002 -- The 100th Boeing 717 production airplane was delivered today to launch customer AirTran Airways, bringing the low-fare airline's 717 fleet to 37 airplanes. According to AirTran, the 717 is 24 percent more fuel efficient than the carrier's DC-9s, with lower operating costs, excellent reliability and favorable passenger acceptance.
