SEAL BEACH, CALIF., ABU DHABI, U.A.E., June 18, 2002 -- Boeing Satellite Systems will deliver Thuraya-2 for launch in January 2003, and will build Thuraya-3, the third in a series of GEO-Mobile satellites for Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company of United Arab Emirates. The Thuraya system provides blanket mobile communications coverage to Europe, the Middle East, North and Central Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia, a region inhabited by an estimated 2.3 billion people.
