KLM Confirms Acquisition of Additional Boeing 777-200ERs

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 22, 2002 -- Peter Hartman (right), managing director and chief operating officer of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Rob Ruijter (left), chief financial officer of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Alan Mulally, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, met at the 2002 Farnborough Air Show to confirm the addition of two 777-200ER (Extended Range) airplanes to the airline's recent announcement of Boeing [NYSE:BA] widebody aircraft. This addition brings the total acquisition to 13 widebody airplanes -- 10 new 777-200ER jetliners and three 747-400ER freighters. The two new airplanes have an estimated value of $344 million, bringing the total estimated value of the acquisition to $2.3 billion. Deliveries of both models will begin in late 2003.
