LONG BEACH, Calif., Feb. 14, 2002 -- The Boeing Company has presented its first-ever companywide Suppliers of the Year awards to 11 suppliers who provide consistently high-quality products and services across the Boeing enterprise. The companies were honored Wednesday evening during an awards ceremony in Long Beach, Calif.

"Each of these suppliers has the same constancy of purpose: to provide the best value for our customers," said Bill Stowers, Boeing vice president and general manager and chair of the Supplier Management Process Council, the Boeing organization that establishes the performance measures for the more than 15,800 Boeing suppliers.

"These suppliers are nimble and responsive. They share our passion for providing the best, most affordable aerospace products and services in the world. We are honored to have them on our team. Each has made a unique contribution to creating total solutions for Boeing and for our customers."

The companywide Boeing Suppliers of the Year award recognizes those suppliers who bring their knowledge, experience, talent and leadership to bear on the success of the entire Boeing enterprise. Winning suppliers in each category were selected on statistical measurements of quality, on-time delivery and cost. The nominees the teams selected were approved through a companywide review process.

"Suppliers are vital to Boeing's success," Stowers said. "As we become a more broad-based and balanced aerospace company, we are looking for suppliers who can help improve cost, quality and delivery performance across our Boeing businesses."

The Boeing Supplier Management Process Council leads the Boeing effort to build a high-performing supplier network focused on first-time quality, on-time service and affordability.
