ST. LOUIS, Nov. 19, 2002 -- The first launch of the Boeing [NYSE:BA] Delta IV rocket was scrubbed this evening because, minutes before liftoff, launch officials detected that a fill valve on the liquid oxygen (LOX) tank did not close, therefore the LOX tank was not properly pressurizing.
Today's launch was scheduled for 5:39 p.m. EST from Space Launch Complex 37B, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.
A detailed review of the launch data is underway. Boeing plans a second attempt to launch the Delta IV tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 20. The launch window will open at 5:39 p.m. EST and will extend for 70 minutes.
The Boeing Delta IV Medium+ (4,2) rocket is scheduled to launch W5, a commercial telecommunications satellite for Eutelsat S.A.
