Binariang And Boeing To Provide Next-generation Satellite For Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, March 21, 2003 -- NEW SATELLITE FOR MALAYSIA -- Boeing Satellite Systems has been awarded a contract to build a high-power satellite for Binariang Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. of Kuala Lumpur. Under the contract, Boeing will provide MEASAT-3, a Boeing 601HP satellite, along with upgrades to the MEASAT ground station in Pulau Langkawi, training, and launch support services. MEASAT-3 will join the Boeing-built MEASAT-1 and MEASAT-2 spacecraft to provide direct-to-home and business communications services to an area that includes Malaysia, India, and China for Ku-band and to all of Asia, Middle East and Africa for C-band. The launch is scheduled for 2005.
