ST. LOUIS, May 19, 2003 -- The Boeing-built Thuraya-2 mobile communications satellite undergoes preparations at Boeing Satellite Systems' El Segundo, Calif. factory before shipping to the Sea Launch Home Port in Long Beach, Calif. The Boeing GEO-Mobile satellite was built for Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company of United Arab Emirates. The spacecraft will join its Boeing-built predecessor Thuraya-1 at 44 degrees east longitude in geosynchronous Earth orbit to provide mobile data and voice services to more than 100 countries in Europe, the Middle East, North and Central Africa, the CIS countries and South Asia.
