Boeing Ships Eutelsat's e-BIRD Satellite To French Guiana For Late August Launch
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 05, 2003 -- SOPHISTICATED SPINNER -- e-BIRD, a spin-stabilized Boeing 376HP satellite, undergoes preparations at the Boeing Satellite Systems factory in El Segundo, Calif. before shipment to the Guiana Space Center in South America for a planned late August launch. The satellite, built for Eutelsat, S.A. of France, carries 20 active Ku-band transponders and an advanced antenna reflector system that will deliver broadband Internet connectivity to homes and businesses in Europe and Turkey.
