Boeing Adds Short-Range 7E7 to Family Plan
EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 03, 2003 -- Boeing has decided to add a third member to the 7E7 Dreamliner family, a shorter-range variant. The shorter-range 7E7 will have a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 kilometers) -- a range that is shorter in comparison to the 7,800-nautical-mile (14,500-kilometer) range of the baseline 7E7. The new 7E7 family member also will feature changes in the wing and landing gear to optimize its mission. The other member of the 7E7 family is a stretch version that will be about 20-feet (six meters) longer than the baseline and shorter-range 7E7 and be capable of flights of 8,300 nautical miles (15,400 kilometers).
