SINGAPORE, Nov. 11, 2003 -- Singapore Airlines (SIA), is the latest airline to select Boeing (NYSE: BA) for high-speed Internet-based communications on board. The agreement calls for the company's Connexion by Boeing SM mobile information service to be installed on 40 of SIA's long-haul jetliners.
Connexion by Boeing enables aircraft operators and passengers to access the Internet and firewall-protected corporate intranets, send and receive email, including attachments, from personal and business email accounts, outgoing emails or open large attachments from incoming emails; get the news, weather or destination information. The service will also enhance air-to-ground communications for flight crew personnel.
Other airlines that have announced their choice of Connexion by Boeing include Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), All-Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines.
