Brek’s on-time delivery rating is presently at 97.3 percent. They work successfully to meet Boeing budget targets. CFM’s relationship with Boeing has been a significant factor in this overhelming success. In 1981, Boeing selected the CFM56-3 as the powerplant for its 737-300/-400/-500 series of aircraft. At the time, both companies optimistically predicted they would sell about 400 airplanes and 3,975 engines. More than 1,980 airplanes later, the CFM-3-powered 737 is a story for the record books. In 1993, this program was followed up with the CFM56-7 for the 737-600/-700/-800/-900 series, which is proving to be even more successful.
