Nippon Cargo Orders New Boeing 747-400 Freighters
SEATTLE, Feb. 02, 2004 -- Under a new purchase agreement, Nippon Cargo Airlines will receive three Boeing 747-400 Freighters during 2005 and 2006. The new airplanes will operate on the carrier's Japan-Europe and Japan-North America routes, replacing earlier generation 747 Freighters.
The 747-400 Freighter can carry twice as much cargo, twice as far, as the competitor's leading freighter and has the lowest operating cost per ton-mile in the industry. The 747 Freighter family -- with over 250 in operation -- carry nearly half of the world's freighter air cargo.
