Boeing 787 Wing Development Progressing

LE BOURGET, France, June 13, 2005 -- The first 787 Dreamliner wing skin panel has been completed in Seattle , Wash. The skin will be mounted on the wing box, which is also complete. The skin is 19 feet long (5.8 meters) at the point where it will connect with the center wing box, which is to be located under the cabin section and joins the two wing sides. This development piece is about half the span of the wing at 44 feet (13.4 meters). This test fixture will be used as part of the certification effort for the all-new jetliner.
