Boeing Delivers First 777-300ER with Fuel-Efficiency Enhancements

Return to News Release

EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 29, 2005 -- Air France has taken delivery of the first enhanced Boeing 777-300ER that will improve overall fuel efficiency by 1.4 percent. The savings, derived from modified engines, reduced aerodynamic drag and reduced weight, equate to an annual savings of approximately 200,000 gallons or 757,000 liters of jet fuel. The reduction in aerodynamic drag results from modifying the airplane's vortex generators and its air-induction systems. All future 777-300ERs will include the enhancements. Boeing also plans to incorporate these changes into the 26 777-300ERs currently in service.
