KEY INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION PART TO BE AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING
McDonnell Douglas Space & Defense Systems invites media for a briefing and one-time viewing of a key International Space Station part before it is shipped to Kennedy Space Center, Fla., for processing.
WHAT:BRIEFING AND PHOTO OPPORTUNITY (10:30 a.m.) -- International Space Station briefing presented by Dr. Rodney Linford, McDonnell Douglas vice president-general manager, Space Station program. Also in attendance will be NASA astronaut and deputy Space Station Program Manager Kevin Chilton as well as Boeing and McDonnell Douglas officials.
Media will be allowed up-close viewing of Pressurized Mating Adaptor in McDonnell Douglas’ Space Station Clean Room. CAMERAS PERMITTED.
CEREMONY (11:30 a.m.) -- Ceremony with key speakers: U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrbacher (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Subcommittee on Space & Aeronautics, and Gale Schluter, vice president-general manager, McDonnell Douglas Space & Defense Systems. Turn right onto Able Lane and left where it ends at Skylab Road. Follow the signs to the reserved media parking at the East Gate. Parking for television satellite relay vehicles will be designated.
