MCDONNELL DOUGLAS RECIPIENT OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AWARD

ST. LOUIS, March 11, 1997 -- McDonnell Douglas today received the Community Partnership Award from the St. Louis County Economic Council. Harry C. Stonecipher, president and chief executive officer for McDonnell Douglas, accepted the award from St. Louis County Executive Buzz Westfall.

"I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the McDonnell Douglas team," said Stonecipher. "St. Louis is a great community -- it is renown for its higher education, its quality medical facilities and its outstanding natural resources. But we still have work to do, and McDonnell Douglas will continue to do its part to make this an even better place to live and work."

McDonnell Douglas was selected for the Community Partnership Award "because of the exemplary efforts it has demonstrated in helping its workers and the community at-large effectively adjust to the end of the Cold War," said Westfall. "These efforts, which have included active participation in the St. Louis Defense Adjustment Committee, providing space for locating a small business incubator in North County, and financial support for the Cornerstone Partnership -- a regional welfare-to-work and defense worker re-training initiative -- have made and continue to make significant and meaningful contributions to many St. Louisans' lives."

More than 300 people attended the annual meeting and award ceremony at the Frontenac Hilton in St. Louis. In addition to the Community Partnership Award, the St. Louis County Economic Council also presented the Technology and Innovation Award, the Business Expansion Award, Entrepreneur of the Year and International Business of the Year.

McDonnell Douglas is one of the world's leading aerospace and defense companies. The corporation had revenues of $13.8 billion in 1996 and employs more than 63,800 people worldwide.
