30TH C-17 DELIVERED TO AIR FORCE

LONG BEACH, Calif., March 27, 1997 -- The 30th production McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD) C-17 Globemaster III was delivered to the Air Force in ceremonies here today.

Mr. Art Money, the assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, and Mr. Gil Decker, the assistant secretary of the Army for research, development and acquisition, participated in the ceremony, then flew on the aircraft to Barstow, Calif., for a visit to the Army's National Training Center at Ft. Irwin.

Also participating in the delivery ceremony was Air Force Maj. Gen. Jerrold Allen, vice commander of the 21st Air Force at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J. He continued on with the aircraft to its home base at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C.

The Air Force's C-17 fleet recently passed 50,000 flying hours.
