Course Length: 3 Days (24 Hours)

LONGBOW FAMILIARIZATION COURSE
DFM-100

OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this course is to provide a top-level overview of the features, capabilities, and systems of the AH-64D Apache Longbow Attack Helicopter. The course and course length is tailored to meet specific customer requirements. The course can be adjusted to be a one day, two day, up to a five-day course dependent upon customer’s needs and requirements.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Managers, staff planners, and supervisory personnel.

PREREQUISITES:
None

COURSE CONTENT:
Course content consists of the purpose, location, description and operation of the various AH-64D Controls and Displays, Communication and Navigation Systems, Weapon Systems Sights and Sensors, Avionics/Electrical/ Armament Systems, and Mechanical Systems. Discussions can also cover battle management and Apache modernization programs.


DFM-100

MODEL AH-64D

Course Length: 4 Weeks (160 Hours). Plus 2 Days (24 Hours)

LONGBOW MECHANICAL SYSTEMS COURSE
DMB-101 OR DMB-101 PLUS EPA-100

OBJECTIVE:
This course provides aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64D Apache Longbow Helicopter mechanical systems.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians

PREREQUISITES:
Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 2.

COURSE CONTENT:
This course provides the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64D Helicopter mechanical systems. Discussions encompass the use of applicable Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE), Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), helicopter systems/components identification and operation, fault detection and isolation techniques and appropriate corrective actions.

Comprehensive classroom coverage consists of the purpose, location, description and operation of the various AH-64D Mechanical Systems which include Data Management Systems, Airframe, Landing Gear, Brakes, Electrical Power Generation System, Fuel System, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), Engines, Hydraulics, Pressurized Air System, Environmental Control Systems, Flight Controls, Rotors and Drives. The classroom coverage also includes identification of the Fire Control Radar (FCR), Armament and Avionics Systems.

The practical exercises provide students hands-on experience performing system and component identification, servicing and adjustment technique identification, aircraft inspections and systems operation. The students will perform electrical system power-up and power-down procedures, APU operation and helicopter systems operation.

COURSE NUMBER: EPA-100, EPA CERTIFICATION 2 DAYS (16.0 HOURS)
US Government personnel, or persons employed under US Government contracts, are required to receive Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification training and testing for handling of R134a refrigerant used in the AH-64D’s Vapor Cycle Cooling System.

COURSE CONTENT:
This course provides the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64D Helicopter unique mechanical systems. Discussions encompass applicable Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE), Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), helicopter systems/component identification and operation, fault detection and isolation techniques and appropriate corrective actions.

Comprehensive academic instruction consists of the purpose, location, description and operation of unique AH-64D mechanical systems, which include the Data Management System, Electrical Power Generation System, Fuel System, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), Fire Control Radar, Pressurized Air System, Flight Controls, Helicopter Air Data System (HADS) and Environmental Control Systems.

DAB-201

This course will provide the technician with knowledge of the major AH-64D armament electrical, avionics, and sighting systems, and their respective assemblies, subassemblies and line replaceable units. Discussions will encompass AH-64D armament, electrical. avionics and sighting systems component operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions.

Comprehensive academic instruction will encompass the purpose, location, description and operation of AH-64A armament, electrical, avionics and sighting systems and their components. This includes applicable peculiar ground support equipment, the Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), Data Management System (DMS), Electrical Power System, Communication Systems, Navigation Systems, Electronic Flight Control System, Interior/Exterior Lighting Systems, Auxiliary Power Unit and Engine Electrical Systems, Power Train Electrical System, Fuel Electrical System, Integrated Pressurized Air System and Anti-Ice Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Electrical System, Environmental Control Electrical System, Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System, Video Cassette Recorder, Area Weapon System, External Stores System, Aerial Rocket System, Longbow HELLFIRE Modular Missile System, Helicopter Boresighting. Radar Signal Detecting Set, Laser Detecting Set, Radar Jammer Countermeasures and M139 Chaff Dispensing Set.

Practical exercises will consist of removing and installing system components and fault detection and isolation of the above systems. The 30-mm gun, gun turret and ammunition handling system will be removed, disassembled, assembled and reinstalled. The Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (TADS/PNVS) will be removed, disassembled, assembled and reinstalled. The 30-mm gun will be uploaded and downloaded using the aircraft-mounted side loader and the PGSE loader. The missile system will be uploaded and downloaded.

The Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (TADS/PNVS) turret will be removed and the TADS/PNVS shall be disassembled and assembled, and the turret will be reinstalled on the aircraft.

PREREQUISITES:
Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 2.

Discussions will encompass AH-64D Helicopter avionics and sighting systems component operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions.

OBJECTIVE:
This course will provide aircraft technicians with skills and knowledge of armament systems on the AH-64D Helicopter.

Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians.

PREREQUISITES:
Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 2.

COURSE CONTENT:
Discussions will encompass AH-64D armament systems/component operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions.

Comprehensive academic instruction will encompass AH-64D Apache Longbow Familiarization, Technical Manuals, Safety, Electrical Power Application, use of the Data Management System, and the purpose, location, description and operation of the area Weapon System, External Stores System, Hellfire Modular Missile System and Aerial Rocket System.

The practical exercise will consist of fault detection and isolation procedures for the gun, rocket and missile systems, uploading of the 30-mm gun using the aircraft-mounted side loader, and uploading and downloading missiles. The gun, gun turret and ammunition handling system will be removed, disassembled, reassembled and reinstalled on the helicopter.

LONGBOW ARMAMENT SYSTEM DIFFERENCES COURSE
DAD-232

OBJECTIVE:
This course will provide aircraft technicians transitioning from the AH-64A Apache Helicopter to the AH-64D Apache Helicopter with skills and knowledge of armament systems on the AH-64D that are new or significantly different from the AH-64A.

RECOMMENDED FOR:
Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians.

PREREQUISITES:
Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 2.

COURSE CONTENT:
Discussions will encompass AH-64D armament systems/component operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions.

Comprehensive academic instruction will encompass AH-64D Apache Longbow Familiarization, Technical Manuals, Safety, Electrical Power Application, use of the Data Management System, and the purpose, location, description and operation of the area Weapon System, External Stores System, Hellfire Modular Missile System and Aerial Rocket System.

The practical exercise will consist of fault detection and isolation procedures for the gun, rocket and missile systems, uploading of the 30-mm gun using the aircraft-mounted side loader, and uploading and downloading missiles.
