Boeing 777 And Bell-Boeing Osprey To Appear At Paris Air Show

SEATTLE, May 15, 1995 -- The Boeing 777 will make its air show debut next month with a three-day appearance at the Paris Air Show. The revolutionary V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, developed jointly by Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing Defense & Space Group also will be on display for the first time in Europe.

The 777 is scheduled to land at Le Bourget on Sunday, June 11 and remain on static display until Tuesday, June 13. The airplane will have completed its role in the most extensive flight test program for any commercial airliner, and following its appearance in Paris will return to Seattle for refurbishment and delivery to United Airlines.

The V-22 Osprey, which takes off and lands like a helicopter, but tilts its engines and rotors to fly forward like a conventional aircraft, is scheduled to fly at 1330 on each day during the show. It may be joined by the XV-15 "proof of concept" tiltrotor aircraft, which caused a sensation at the 1981 Paris Show and subsequently acted as a catalyst for the V-22 program. The aircraft also will be featured in the U.S. Department of Defense static display, along with a Boeing-built Avenger air defense system fire unit, and a Chinook helicopter.

The Bell-Boeing team will have its own pavilion for international customer briefings adjacent to the Department of Defense display.

Boeing Defense & Space Group will display products, including the International Space Station, the Joint Attack Strike Technology aircraft and other systems, in Exhibit Hall 2a, Stand E-15.
