Capacity
Planning Considerations
|
| Below
are some considerations to remember when planning your total
network capacity requirements. |
- Estimate
the number of users you have accessing the Boeing Secure
Web Portal.
- Identify
your existing network capacity.
- Determine
the additional network bandwidth required to support usage to maintain an average network capacity of 320Kbps*
per concurrent user plus overhead.
- Size
ISP access to support existing traffic plus expected
Boeing Secure Web Portal traffic (must have minimal packet loss).
- Size
forward proxy/firewall to support existing traffic plus
expected Boeing Secure Web Portal traffic (must have minimal packet
loss).
- Review
Browser settings. Make adjustments to internal infrastructure,
if necessary.
- Tune
forward proxy settings (TCP receive window size for WAN
environment, fast retransmit-fast recovery operation).
- After
you have optimized your network configuration, gauge how
many users the current network configuration can support.
This maximum number of users can now be used as a measure
for when you need to upgrade your network connection as
new users are added.
* Network
capacity recommendations are based on a typical Engineering
Drawing. An Engineering Drawing is comprised of multiple
images. The average image size is 200 Kilobytes. Business
requirements may be met by a lower average network capacity. |
