'Jackie O' Glamor With Tired Feet

In the '60s, the building of the 747 was pretty exciting. Word had gone out through Employment Security that "extras" would be needed for filming the commercials. I was a young woman in my 20s, and the idea of being in a commercial for such a huge plane was as thrilling as I could imagine.
I wore my "Jackie O" suit and, along with an eager group, boarded buses to the mock-up for the start of a very long day. The glamor gave way to a lot of standing, tired feet and do-overs, but we were treated to lunch, paid $25 for the day and became part of history.
The commercial was made for Pan Am. After all this time, regretfully, I have never been on the real 747!
